"We shape our buildings, and afterwards our buildings shape us".
-Winston Churchill

A truer statement could not be said. Architects design buildings as works of art for us to enjoy, but they have little to no training on the actual influence those building will have on us as humans. They plan for the size, style and function. They do not consider how the building's invisible energy patterns will influence our physiology.

We have all been in buildings that made us feel good. There was something about the place that just made us feel good. Then there have been buildings that make us feel bad or awkward, they are unpleasant and we can not wait to leave. They have all been designed by an architect with a function and style in mind, however, they did not take into consideration the hidden energy patterns that are generated by nature.

Everything on Earth, including Earth itself is made up of atoms and therefore, energy. Each has its own distinctive energy pattern. Some patterns are compatible, others are supportive of one another and still others are incompatible.

The study of Classical Feng Shui addresses these influences and directs us on methods to harness the positive and diminish the undesirable.

What is Feng Shui?

Feng Shui, pronounced “Fung Shway” in the West, literally translates to wind and water and is a very powerful technology that when used correctly can increase beneficial energy in any given environment.

The true definition of Feng Shui has been distorted in the West by many well meaning but misinformed individuals. This, unfortunately, has caused much confusion among those attempting to understand and practice this powerful technology. The term Feng Shui has been referred to as a New Age Phenomena, a New Religion, Interior Design and even Fashion. None of these are correct. There are hundreds of books on the subject. Most of them are no more than the authors misinformed opinion of what Feng Shui is and how to practice it.

This has led to the practice of several versions of Feng Shui in the West, some being more productive than others. Classical Feng Shui, which has been practiced continuously for 5,000 years, is the most effective.

The Western version, sometimes referred to as Black Hat or Western Feng Shui, requires intent and affirmations. Objects, three legged frogs, Chinese coins on a string, and various nick-knacks are placed in particular locations to remind you to focus, while affirmations are chanted to confirm the intent. While affirmations and focus do work, they require time and energy that may be in short supply. This is also not the true practice of Feng Shui.

How Does Feng Shui Work?

Feng Shui is the study of how to identify environmental influences and manipulate their impact on humans. It is similar to the study of how to harness and manipulate radio waves for cell phones.

Each cell phone emits an invisible frequency (energy pattern) that occurs naturally associated with it. These are not altered, only identified and harnessed. Each invisible frequency is unique unto itself. It is similar to the others but not exactly. This frequency supports their usage. If the frequency is strong the signal is good and we can talk on the phone. However, if the frequency is weak or another frequency interferes with it our phone will have static or may not work at all. Simply put, if our phones frequency is not being supported by external influences, i.e. cell towers; or if other external influences, i.e. incompatible cell towers are impacting them they will not work as intended or possibly will not work at all. The same is true of humans.

Like cell phones, humans respond to invisible energy patterns. Like everything in the Universe we are made up of atoms. The atoms that make up our bodies have energy patterns. These patterns are supported by specific frequencies and depleted or antagonized by others. Therefore, there are naturally occurring invisible energy patterns in our environment that influence us whether we are aware of them or not.

The study of Classical Feng Shui addresses these influences and directs us on methods to harness the positive and diminish the undesirable.

Why Feng Shui?

Your surroundings exert a huge influence on your life. They affect your personal health, happiness and wealth and have a direct bearing on the opportunities that come to you. If Feng Shui is practiced correctly it can be life changing. The proper application of Feng Shui principles creates an environment with improved energy flow to support you and your goals. This can lead to an overall sense of well-being, better health, improved relationships and social life and increases in professional success.

Why Classical Feng Shui?
Classical Feng Shui deals with invisible energy patterns that have a definite impact on our health, wealth, relationships, overall well-being, productivity and mental clarity.

Unlike "Western" Feng Shui Classical Feng Shui is a “do it and forget it” type of Feng Shui. It does not require, one to speak affirmations or place objects such as three legged frogs or Chinese coins on a string. Classical Feng Shui is based in physics, cause and affect.

Long before high tech equipment, in fact thousands of years ago, Ancient Chinese scholars who began the practice of Feng Shui understood the workings of the Universe.

Using this knowledge they recognized certain patterns in nature and developed methods to trace their influence on humans. They did not know about atoms or the energy they create. However, these ancient scientists observed cause and effect. Using that information they identified formulae that documented the predictability of the impact of certain invisible patterns in an environment on humans.

These Classical Feng Shui Masters documented these formulae and handed them down generation to generation to worthy students who would carry on the study. This has led us to modern day Classical Feng Shui. Even though it has evolved to include modern day lifestyles the basis of their formulae, as with any law of nature, is much the same as it was 6,000 years ago.

In the early days of Classical Feng Shui there was no compass. It was invented years later. Therefore land formations and how energy traveled along them was the initial focus. Although compass directions and planetary influences have been added to the practice of Classical Feng Shui land form is still the priority today. Identifying how energy flows along and through landscapes is paramount to the practice of Classical Feng Shui.

Mountains, large buildings, rivers, streams, roads, parking lots and landscape have a definite impact on the energy that enters our homes, apartments, offices, retail space and schools.

When the compass was invented, the influence compass directions had on humans became a vital part of Classical Feng Shui. The understanding of Compass directions took the practice of Classical Feng Shui to a new level.

The compass became an essential tool in the practice of Classical Feng Shui. The Ancient Scholars created Lo Pans, compasses with Classical Feng Shui formulae written on them in concentric circles around the actual compass identifying energy patterns for each of the 360 degrees.

The direction of certain elements in the landscape play an additional role in the influence of  invisible energy patterns. A mountain in a specific compass direction may have a detrimental influence for a building, home or office that faces a particular direction, preventing beneficial energy from reaching the building.

Understanding the foundation of how this technology works can be challenging. Many individuals have attempted to make it easy, misleading the public with books that lead consumers to believe Feng Shui is a do-it-yourself practice.

However, like any highly technical practice it is best to hire the professional.
